Video Two - RepairsThe second video in the Recovery Series is called Repairs. It takes the emotions introduced in the first video and explores them in more detail. It also takes a closer look at your past relationship, and helps you to understand what elements may have contributed to its breakdown. Gillian discusses the five stages of grief that you may experience after a relationship has ended. She investigates these stages further, and moves slowly through each stage to help you fully understand the process. She also gives useful suggestions for dealing with the anger, fear and loneliness caused by your separation. The video also looks at the idea of finalising the emotional connection you may still have with your ex-partner. By protecting yourself in this time of vulnerability and exploring exercises such as writing a goodbye letter, Gillian demonstrates ways that you can grow through this painful time to become a happier and more independent individual. Children and their needs are also discussed in the second video. Gillian works through helping your children understand what is happening to them, and explaining to them how their lives will be from now on. Children experience the same shock, disbelief, anger, fear and loneliness as you when the relationship ends. Repairs looks at supporting your children in their own recovery process.
